ALLEGRI LEAVES OUT ROBINHO

AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri has left out star striker Robinho for the match against Siena during the weekend. The manager said that Robinho’s performances have not being good enough of late, and hence, he has decided to leave out the former Real Madrid striker out of the starting line-up. Robinho completed his permanent move to AC Milan a few seasons ago in the hope of becoming the best player in the world. He had a torrid spell at Manchester City he had to perform well above the expectations due to the fact that he was the star striker in the squad.

At AC Milan, Robinho’s performances have been poor of late. In the 26 matches he has played for AC Milan this season, Robinho has scored only five goals. He missed a great opportunity against Barcelona in the quarter-finals of the Champions League early on in the match. Had he scored the goal, things would have certainly been different for the Italian club. The 0-0 draw in the first leg was followed by a 3-1 defeat at the Camp Nou. Hence, AC Milan paid the price for not being clinical in the first leg when they had opportunities to score mainly through Robinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

“Robinho is not in a great moment, the other strikers are playing well so I prefer to let him rest,” said Allegri ahead of the meeting with Siena during the weekend. AC Milan currently trail leaders Juventus by three points. Further, Milan will also be having the Milan derby from now till the end of the season, while most of the matches are easy on paper for Juventus. Clarence Seedorf will also miss the match against Siena after suffering a calf injury. Zlatan Ibrahimovic continues to be the top scorer in the Milan squad with 24 goals this season.
